When a loved one has passed, you may be the one to manage the Estate. As the Executor it is now your burden and reward to handle the task. If you have close family or friends to help you that would be ideal. It's okay to put on some music and reminisce about the times you've shared. This a chance to get some closure and select a few beautiful treasures. In honor of the decedent it's an act of generosity to re-purpose belongings to someone who could really use it. Still usable items get a second life. Unfortunately, not all of the things have monetary value. You may find yourself spending hours trying to recoup just a small amount of cash. Time may be crucial if you have to take off from work, have to travel a great distance, or have to prep the home for a sale. Just keep in mind that you are the one that has to go on living. Come up with solutions that work best for you.
